PATTON IN HISTORY:

Patton Museum Receives Two 2008 Kentucky History Awards

The Patton Museum was honored at the 2008 Kentucky History Awards Program, held March 1, at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. Sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society and the Historical Confederation of Kentucky, these annual awards recognize the best achievements and projects relating to state and local history.

“This is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of those who cherish Kentucky history,” says Kent Whitworth, executive director. “We are pleased to honor individuals and programs that provide all of us with connections to the past, perspective on the present, and inspiration for the future.”

The Patton Museum received the Award of Merit for Best Website "General George Patton Museum Online" and Best Museum Exhibit for "When Humanity Fails."

An agency of the Kentucky Commerce Cabinet, the Kentucky Historical Society, since 1836, has provided connections to the past, perspective on the present, and inspiration for the future. KHS operates the Old State Capitol, the Kentucky Military History Museum, and its headquarters, the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. Since 1999, the thirty-million-dollar Center has welcomed more than one million visitors.
