PATTON IN HISTORY:

The Evolution of Armor and Mechanized Cavalry

The Patton Museum is home to a wide array of weapons and armor. A walk through the exhibit provides a visual history of the development of America's armored force, as well as the tanks used by our adversaries.

World War I
1914-1918

World War I marked the beginning of mechanized armor warfare. The Allied Expeditionary Force saw the value of tanks immediately upon arrival in France. The tank corps was formed to provide U.S. tankers to support the infantry of the AEF.
