William Eldert served with the 658th Tank Destroyer Battalion. In 1944 the unit was converted and re-designated as the 658th Amphibious Tractor Battalion. William Eldert served in the Pacific Theater. This is his collection of personal artifacts and mementos from his service, including numerous D-Day landings as the 658th landed on island after island in the Pacific. William Eldert spent much of his service living on an LST.
